Dear Friends,

I grew up in the creative confusion of a large family in Dayton, Ohio. I began sculpting animals in clay in 1973 while I was the director of a community art center in Loveland, Ohio. In 1975 my husband, Joe, and I were so attracted by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains that we moved to a small valley near Boone, NC, to raise our daughter and craft a life.

Soon after this move, I expanded my line of miniature animal sculptures to meet the growing demand of the collectors who visit our mountains each year. As the word spread, Little Guys found their way into fine gift shops and craft galleries all across the USA. I still pinch the personality into each one myself and hand draw each little smile. Take the fun quiz mentioned below to learn more about Little Guys.

I believe that women must become full and respected partners with men before a lasting world peace can be forged. I also believe that the kind of deep love found in a close family is a treasure for each individual as well as a powerful model for peace in this world. These beliefs prompted me to create a line of sculptures called Women of Peace immediately after 9/11. These sculptures celebrated women's wisdom, their courage and their power to make a peaceful difference in today's world. While my Women of Peace sculptures are no longer available, my commitment to peace continues to manifest in the work I am doing for my Faith and my community and will no doubt reemerge soon in my art.

For over 20 years, I have been drawing multicultural children for small world-minded publishers. These drawings celebrate my vision for the children of the world—laughing, caring and sharing with each other as loving and beloved members of one human family. I'm delighted to share these drawings in my People of Peace notes and my virtues activity books.
